“Education is an introduction to the very best that has been said and thought.” Dr Thomas Arnold
Our school’s beginnings have a remarkable story and vision behind our education. Heritage International School was established as a brand new, purpose-designed international school by the founders, Mrs Natalia Cecetova and Mr Sinan Bora, in 2017, to provide a truly internationally focussed school for the global and local community here in Moldova. The principles on which it was founded are to ensure that Heritage is not only the country’s first truly international school, but is an innovative and pioneering world-class educational institution that is outward facing to the wider global society. Our founders’ vision:
“Preparing students for the challenges of the future… A dream of an international school that will give the children of our country the atmosphere of an alternative, progressive, modern educational institution.” Mrs Natalia Cecetova
Our curriculum is based on recognised, well-established, transferable global curricula that develop holistically every individual student to achieve their full potential in an international school community. There are over 20 nationalities in the Heritage Community and English is our common working language, alongside Romanian and Russian, within our classes who follow a mixed curriculum (national and international). The school culture prides itself on its inclusive international and local student body and we recruit the very best educators from around the world and here in Moldova. Our experienced and professional teachers believe in the power of transformative and engaging learning as the hallmark of our education, anchored in a positive school culture and an environment of mutual respect and belief in all our young people as they develop and grow into young adults. Heritage International School is a caring and nurturing community and our ethos is to ensure we are a 21st century school providing the skills and opportunities young people need right now to access and to be successful in a global society as future global citizens: all within a world-class, educationally designed new school.
The school is designed to provide education for the primary, gymnasium and lyceum sections of education, taking students from the ages of 6 up to 19. Our primary section follows the International Primary Curriculum, our gymnasium follows the Cambridge International curriculum and the national curriculum, and our lyceum, due to open in 2020-21, will follow the International Baccalaureate and A Levels as the first school in Moldova to offer the IB. Our pastoral support, with our new student support centre, has experienced guidance staff to ensure students can access international universities and careers. Uniting all sections of our school is our belief in developing students through strands of learning that connect the curriculum and provide wider 21st century skills such as digital, sustainability, global, creative and critical thinking learning opportunities for our young people. We believe in developing an intellectual curiosity in every student that will stay with them beyond formal school and throughout their lives as confident adults. We believe in stretch and challenge learning so all students can aspire to wider education and understanding of their society as well as the world. Our belief in our young people means giving them the very best innovative opportunities and through student leadership we develop their confidence. We take the very best of education systems around the world for our everyday experience at Heritage International School.
We have a very experienced team who are here to liaise and work with our community as either you are making the move to our beautiful country or joining us from Moldova. Our aim is to ensure that by choosing our international school, young people are settled quickly, welcomed, make new friends and we build positive home-school relationships through regular communications and our understanding of global education. Our students access the wider world constantly through unique educational opportunities and we work closely with a range of global educational groups such as the British Council, the IB, America House, The University of Oxford, Cambridge International, Confucius Institute and international schools around the world, connecting global classrooms. We also collaborate and partner with schools and organisations supporting our communities in Moldova and we are proud to be an international school in this remarkable country, supporting the further development of education.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” W. B. Yeats
