The sub-Saharan country Cameroon is known for its diversity in culture and geography. While expats certainly enjoy its exotic atmosphere and beautiful beaches, mountains, deserts and rainforests, they will suffer from such inconveniences as chronically slow Internet access and bureaucratic red tape. Still, the western international  will find significant European cultural influence in Cameroon and, as long as he or she speaks French or English, will find doing commerce relatively easy. Also, if the expat is Muslim or Christian, he or she will likely not face too much difficulty in accessing a house of worship.
It’s generally fairly safe for internationals in Cameroon with the exception of the Bakassi peninsula and the north parts of the country. Xpatulator describes Cameroon as a place with a “high degree of hardship”. Cameroon is nice in the cool and dry period between November and February. The “Harmattan”-period is best to be avoided, the winds blows sands from the Sahara from December till February and the rainy season is from May to November.
